Free Trees for Bloom & 'Its Your Neighbourhood Groups'

Dear “in Bloom” & It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) groups,

We’d like to invite you to take part in what promises to be a very exciting launch event for the 2011 Britain in Bloom and IYN campaigns.

Every year we celebrate the start of the campaigns’ activities with a launch event in March. This enables us to raise the profile of the campaigns in the media, which benefits all participants. This year we have chosen tree planting as our theme and have partnered with the Woodland Trust to offer participating groups free packs of native trees to plant at their events.

While groups are able to hold events throughout the entire month of March, we will be launching the campaign to the media on 26 -27 March and hope that as many groups as possible will be able organise something for that weekend.

In order to receive your free pack of trees you will need to register your event by 9 February 2011. We will not be able to supply trees to groups registering after this date. To find out more about the event and to apply for your free pack of trees visit: www.rhs.org.uk/britaininbloom

On the website you can apply for your tree pack, find advice on tree planting and care, gather ideas for your launch activity and read tips on generating as much publicity as possible. You can also view the template materials available to participating groups (including template press releases and posters), which will be emailed to groups when they register.

Whether you can plant a single tree, a small hedgerow or a larger area of woodland, we hope that as many of you as possible will join us in making this one of the largest UK-wide tree planting events in recent years.

Please visit www.rhs.org.uk/britaininbloom for more information. Please note: the application form will be going live on 20 December; in the meantime, you can view a sample copy of the form online.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.

Best wishes,
Sophie
