Making our towns and cities Bloom

Making Our Towns and Cities Bloom

Gardening groups and volunteers throughout the country are being celebrated for their work throughout the year at Britain in Bloom award ceremonies.

More than 3,000 cities, towns, villages and urban communities take part each year in the regional campaigns, to be assessed on environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievement.

As always, we have seen some incredible work: beautiful wildflower meadows, stunning town centres, botanical shop fronts and habitats for all manner of wildlife!

Some groups are lucky enough to be backed by local authorities or private sponsors, but elsewhere, it is sheer determination and good will that keeps places in bloom. In all cases, volunteers work tirelessly to improve their communities for the benefit of all.

The groups that shine at this level may be selected to take part in the 2018 Britain in Bloom UK Finals, organised by the RHS. This year's national finalist awards are taking place in October in Llandudno, celebrating 50 years of Wales in Bloom.

We wish our entries the best of luck and great Yorkshire support to...
