RHS Young Gardeners of the Year

The greenest young thumbs in the UK have been unveiled in the RHS Young Gardeners of the Year 2017 competition.

Ten-year-old Fraser White from Dairsie Primary School, near St Andrews was crowned Young School Gardener of the Year at a special ceremony in Surrey last weekend.

His teacher Ruth Selbie said Fraser’s passion and knowledge for gardening had benefited the whole school, as well as himself: “Since discovering gardening, Fraser now loves coming into school; he is a changed boy and a walking advert for the good gardening and caring for nature can do for a person.”

More than 300 entries were whittled down to just 24 finalists across the three categories, Young School Gardener of the Year, School Gardening Team of the Year and School Gardening Champion of the Year.
